The RSX BASE K20A3 engine engages i-VTEC at 2200 RPM however there is very limited as it only affects the intake valve timing. The boost is more for fuel economy and less about power. The RSX Type-S K20A2 engine engages at 5800 RPM. It effects both the intake and exhaust valves. From experience it feels like a kick in the pants when it engages.

Simple DIY mechanical adjustment as usual for Honda, new gasket and a couple of bond drops in the chain side (gently remove the old one first). Cheers.
