💧 Ktm 690 Enduro R Short Rider
Consider a Suzuki DR650. After a year or so or riding it on both street and dirt, you'll know when you are ready for a 690 Enduro R. Yes, it will cruise at 75 all day long, and be comfortable enough. The best part is that you'll sell it for the same price you bought it for, if you keep on on maintenance and such.
Maybe available aftermarket. CS sprocket is different from smaller singles and 950/990s. The older LC4 (625,640, etc.) front sprockets are exactly the same as the 690. For example, 58033029014 is a KTM OEM 14 tooth front sprocket that will fit the 690 (from the 2005 640 Enduro parts fiche.) #23.

Here is a video of the codes and the bike back at my garage. The codes showing are. Wife used to commute on her 640 Adv (later converted to a 640E front fairing for that dirtbike on 'roids feel) for years. Can't image the 690 is less sophisticated ; > She now runs an F800R, but same commute though - app. 90km 1-way if highway (rarely) and 110km if takes twisty 2-lane (99.99% of time).
if you're 250lbs you still need to respring the 690/701. No way you're gonna get proper sag setup while being that heavy on any bikes oem springs. Even 200lb is pushing it. Most bikes are out of box for around a 170lb rider, the crf250/300l is exceptionally soft and only rear shock preload can be adjusted. Bike needs springs even if you're like

Heres my setup: - ACC2 (switched power) - Running a Garmin Zumo XT that lives on the bike (good setup because Garmin turns on and off automatically when it receives or looses power). - ACC1 (constant hot power) - Running a handlebar mounted USB port that runs to my tank bag where it charges camera batteries, phone, etc

Dirt Rider magazine says the 690 is a winner in a 1 bike class. So no comparison the KTM will own the XT but the KTM cost 30%+ More $$$$. DR did an article on the 650 Japanese D.S. bikes than one on the 690 because it just couldn't compare to the others.
Setting up my 2013 USDM enduro R for a 5000 mile trip from SoCal to Banff, down CDT to Mexican border and back to Socal. I'm maybe 210lbs with riding gear, adding RR 9.5L aux tanks and should have about 50-60lbs of gear on the tail centered around a GL Coyote bag. I'm an intermediate level rider but we'll be riding conservatively on this trip.
