🐏 Ford 1.0 Ecoboost Engine Problems
It is a 2014 Fiesta SFE with the turbo 3 cylinder. There is no recommendation in the owner's manual for a time interval on the belt change, just every 150,000 miles. Just hit 107,000 miles and the timing belt let go. The engine had an easy life; all highway miles and full synthetic oil changes every 10,000 miles.
Yeah it's an interference engine, there will be damage if the belts snapped. Probably cheaper to stick another engine in than repair. The garage and the belt kit should both have warranty to cover something like this, depending on whether it was a defective part or incompetence that caused the issue.
Focus 1.0 Ecoboost Engine - Maxime. My daughter has a 2021 Focus 1.0 ecoboost which is having the oil consumption monitored as usage seems high. Has been serviced in line with ford servicing at a ford dealer. Currently using about a litre every 1000 miles. Told this is normal for this sort of engine.

Honda squeezed 130hp out of their new 1.5L DOHC motor for the Fit and it's quite close to the Fiesta for MPG (32/45 Fiesta vs. 33/41 Fit). Car and Driver tested the Fit at 8 seconds 0-60 and 16.2 sec for the 1/4 mile. They also tested the Fiesta 1.0L Ecoboost, which did 0-60 in 8.3 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 16.7.

Our Ford Focus 1.0T 2018 EcoBoost suffered a catastrophic engine failure dur to a 'low oil pressure' arising apparently to the oil pump becoming blocked. We have had the car regularly serviced but missed the service interval by a few thousand miles due to various human factors.
The Ford EcoBoost engine line spans three, four, and six-cylinder implementations, both in a straight line and V designs, with ranges running from 1.0 to 3.5 liters. The Ford EcoBoost engine family had its inaugural appearance in 2010.
The 1.0 Litre Ecoboost engines are not comparable to the normally aspirated 1 Litre Ford Engines. They have much more power and torque and are more akin to a normally aspirated 1.6 engine, certainly in 123 BHP and 138 BHP models.. I have a 2019 (MK8) St-Line X 140PS model having owned a 2106 (MK7.5) St-Line 140 before that.
Ford Fiesta - Ecoboost engines - John F. . My daughter had a Fiests with the Ecoboost 1.0 engine for 2 years and had 18K miles of trouble free motoring. She now has a Focus with the 1.0 Ecoboost and so far has had 18 months of trouble free motoring. In my book this is the first ten per cent of its life, i.e. meaningless.
